Residents of Bomachoge Chache Constituency have appealed to President William Ruto to intervene and complete the construction of Egetuki Medical Training College, which has stalled for years.
In a consultative stakeholders’ meeting yesterday, led by one James Moracha, they said the facility has stalled for more than a decade and wondered why it has taken such a long time to complete.
They blamed the area MP Alpa Miruka for giving it a raw deal and asked him to revise his priorities of development in the constituency, thanking him nonetheless for improving the road network, but that it could not make up for gaps in healthcare.
In another forum, David Atuka, a retired nurse, underscored the importance of health care and said the completion of Egetuki MTC was long overdue.
He asked the Kisii County Governor Simba Arati to join hands with the national government to complete the facility because health is a devolved function.
He said that there are more than 70 KMTCs spread across the 47 counties of the country, wondering why the constituency was left behind.
