School in Narok converts tents into classrooms to cope with congestion

Ilmashariani Secondary School has come to the aid of over 600 students who hail from the surrounding areas and have been offered a place in various classes.

According, Samuel Odupoi who is the Principal of the school said that the students were recruited to attain the 100 per cent transition, in line with the Ministry of Education plan.

He added that each class has over 80 students and this has posed infrastructural challenge at the school.

He said that he has an agreement with the parents to be paying in installments until they complete.

He however noted that they attained a mean grade of 3.5 for the first time and their aim as a school is to ensure that the performance will improve greatly so as to be made a school of excellence.

He has requested the TSC to employ more teachers which will enhance the teaching and improve the students learning.

He has said that they also admit the people enabled to live differently, teen mothers are given a chance to complete education and pursue their dreams.

He said that this year they participated in co-curricular activities up to regional level.

He asked the parents to support them and help in guiding the students to add value to their lives so that when they will leave school they will be useful to the community.

He is calling upon the governmental and non-government partners to offer them support to get the classrooms, dining hall and library because they are using temporal structures to teach.
