Relief as new borehole to end water scarcity at Mwea Technical College

A borehole that will ensure there is enough water supply is being drilled at the Mwea Technical and Vocational College.

The project that will end in July will ensure the college get enough water supply that will ensure agricultural lessons are held comfortably.

The colleges Principal Jack Nyaga said that the institution will be able to carry out their lessons amicably, since agriculture needs a lot of water.

“When the borehole will be through, the institution will have enough water to carry on agricultural activities, since we offer the courses,” said Nyaga.

The institution has been getting water from Gathigiriri self-help group but it wasn’t enough thus a plea to own a borehole.

“The borehole isn’t just owned by the institution, residents will also get a share from the project,” Nyaga added.

The chairman of Mwea College George Njeru also urged parents to take the advantage and ensure that parents enrol their children in the institution.

“The demand for water is high and we expect it to rise when the enrolment increases, we urge parents to take the advantage of the institution that is at the doorstep,” he said.

Area MP Mary Maingi said that it hurts to see youngsters idling instead of being in learning institutions.

She said much more is expected to be done to ensure that learners do not lack the necessary skills and equipment.

The MP also donated computers to ensure that the colleges offers ICT courses that are vital in this digital world.

“I urge youths to get digital skills so that they can also be part of the “Jitume project dollar itoke” a digital platform, that is why I donated computers for ICT training and still I will bring more computers,” Maingi stated.

She anticipates the enrolment to rise to 100 students.
