President William Ruto has thanked the Catholic Church for supporting the education sector in the country through sponsorship of schools.

He observed that most sponsored schools across the nation posted excellent results in national examinations.

Ruto cited St. Kizito Nyansiongo, Cardinal Otunga Mosocho and Nyabururu Girls as examples of Catholic-sponsored schools that have demonstrated consistent stellar academic performance over the years.

He made the remarks in a speech read by Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu during a fundraiser at Nyamiobo Catholic Church in Bonchari constituency, Kisii county where he also donated Ksh1 million.

Machogu later led area leaders to Ramasa SDA Church in Nyaribari Masaba constituency for another fundraiser.

The group also toured Riatirimba Technical and Vocational College (TVC) where they encouraged students to embrace technical education to gain practical knowledge and skills that are currently in high demand in the job market.

“Let even those who have families come and gain knowledge and skills because education has no age limit,” he said.

He was flanked by Kisii County Deputy Governor Dr. Robert Monda, Woman Representative Doris Aburi, MPs Dr. Daniel Manduku (Nyaribari Masaba) Zaheel Jhanda (Nyaribari Chache) and Masimba Ward MCA Boaz Mairura among other leaders.
