Uproar extends to the home of slain varsity student

Former Members of Kisii and Nyamira County Assemblies have blamed the killing of Maseno Univesity student during the peaceful administrations led by former Premier Raila Odinga of Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition.

Led by Leonard Onduso, Beautah Omanga, Charles Nyagoto and Fred Menge, they asked the police to investigate on the alleged killing of David Maguti, a third year student from Keroka. The deceased was studying in Maseno University’s Kisumu campus.

“We call upon the police to arrest individual killers of the innocent University Student,” they appealed.

According to the father of the deceased, Mr. Samuel Maguti, he received report of the bad news from a neighbor who called him over the phone.

“When I reached there I was shocked to find my son dead and lying in a pool of blood,” he said.

His message was echoed by the brother of the deceased who said that he was called from Narok town where he works.

“My brother had a mutilated neck and indication that his killers struggled to kill him deliberately,” he said.

According to the preliminary police report, the deceased was among some rioting mob who took the law into their hands under the cover of the demonstrators to loot a super-market on Monday.

They could not reveal if the deceased was gunned down or died in the crowd stamped.

The case has caused uproar who blamed the police for applying excessive force in their operations.

Residents from Kisii and Nyamira castigated the ongoing demonstrations in the Country.

“We from Nyamira and Kisii Counties condemn the demonstrations because they mar peace and hinder development.

They called for dialogue between Raila Odinga and President Ruto to iron out any political differences instead of throwing the country in mayhem.

“We do not want any more deaths because life is precious,” said Bosire Angwenyi.

Angwenyi who is the General Secretary of Abagusii Cultural and Development Council told the residents to prepare to receive President Ruto well as he is scheduled to visit the region on Friday.
