The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has unveiled training dates for teachers who will be handling Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) exams.
The training programme which aims to retool the teachers is scheduled to take place in three phases from May 20 to 30, 2024.
On May 20-23, the training will involve Training of Trainers (ToTs) will take place including regular and special needs education teachers, at select venues. The participants will include ToTs drawn from Curriculum Support Officers CSOs), Teachers Educators from Teachers Training College (TTCs), Quality Assurance and Standards Officers (QASO) and TSC Sub-county Directors (SCDs).
Sub-county and zonal training coordination at the County and Sub-county levels, involving Master Trainers, ToTs and County Directors will take place from May 24-25, 2024.
Retooling of teachers clustered by the subject at select county venues to take place between May 27 and May 30. The participants will include teachers of Languages, Science, Mathematics, Humanities and Technical subjects.

The training will be conducted face-to-face using a multi-agency approach, with teacher capacity development carried through a smart cascade model.
The Commission through this initiative aims to ensure that teachers are well-equipped to deliver the CBC effectively.
On April 25,KNEC Chief Executive Officer, David Njengere revealed that the the Government agency is at final stages of preparing to conduct pilot Grade 9 assessment set for June, sample will give a glimpse of the end of Junior School Assessment that will be in October.
The CBC pioneer class Grade 8 will sit their exams on October this year, an Assessment that will be used as a transition tool to Senior School Grade 9.
