President William Ruto has urged the new Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki to support him in fulfilling his agenda to provide access to quality education of every Kenyan child.

“I need your support to help me and our Cabinet to profile what we are doing. You are eloquent and intelligent and I’m confident that we will do what I have missed in the last two years,” the Head of State said.

Ruto, who was speaking during the swearing in of Prof. Kindiki on Friday at KICC, said the government has done its best in transforming the education system so far.

“Today we have more teachers, we have announced another twenty thousand teachers, we have another new funding model of education that is student-based that we are refining to ensure that no child in Kenya is left behind,” Ruto said.

“As public servants we serve under provisions of the law and the constitution of Kenya and no one is greater than what the constitution says. That is what makes us a nation,” he added.

Prof. Kindiki now becomes the country’s third Deputy President under the new constitution, succeeding Rigathi Gachagua who was impeached on October 17,

Kindiki has a Masters degree and a Ph.D from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He has authored more than 30 publications, including books and articles in academic peer-reviewed journals both locally and internationally.
