A past rugby school competition.

The highly anticipated Western and Nyanza Region Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term One Games pools for rugby 15s have been officially announced. This sets the stage for a thrilling contest as schools brace for the regional showdown.

The competition, scheduled to take place from March 12 to March 15, 2025, is expected to showcase top-tier talent, tactical brilliance, and unrelenting intensity.

Defending champions Butula Boys High School from Busia County will be absent from this year’s Western Region tournament after being handed a three-year ban, a decision that has reshaped the title race.

With the reigning champions sidelined, the battle for supremacy is now wide open, igniting fresh hopes among the competing teams.

Pool A promises a fierce contest, with Mundika Boys from Busia County drawn alongside Bungoma’s Kamusinde Boys, Vihiga High School, and St. Peter’s Boys High School Mumias.

Each fixture is poised to be a test of skill and resilience, and the intensity of the clashes will be unrelenting.

Meanwhile, Uriri High School will host a hotly contested tournament in the Nyanza Region as schools from across the region vie for top honours. Kisii County champions Kisii School headline Pool A, where they are set to battle Nyamira’s Gekano, Nyabondo, and Rapogi. With each side determined to assert dominance, this group promises high-octane encounters.

Pool B features an equally formidable lineup, with Anjego, Saint Mary’s Yala, Agoro Sare, and Cardinal Otunga Mosocho ready to lock horns.

With the pools now set and preparations in full swing, anticipation is at an all-time high. The Western and Nyanza Region Rugby Fifteens tournament is poised to deliver exhilarating clashes, raw passion, and a showcase of Kenya’s finest school rugby talent.
