The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has vowed to address job stagnation in the profession.

TSC Commissioner Dr Nicodemus Anyang said the Commission has promoted over 55,000 teachers in the last two years.

He said that the TSC intends to promote another 26,000 teachers in the next three months, urging those who may not be successful to continue applying, noting that they were initially left out due to budgetary constraints.

Dr Anyang was addressing mourners during the burial of Beatrice Amoit Osirang’ who died aged 65 years at Kimasat village in Amagoro location, Teso North Sub-county.

He told teachers to be positive despite the fact that some of them may have not been promoted despite applying for the positions many times.

“Some teachers have vowed,” sita apply tena. (I will not apply again).  They should not lose hope but keep on applying,” he said.

The Commissioner said that there are guidelines and rules the Commission use to promote teachers, noting that there is no hidden agenda in the promotion of teachers.

Anyang added that they held various stakeholders’ engagements across the country, and the main issue that came out was stagnation, which they are implementing.

Also present were KNUT National Second Vice- Chairman Aggrey Naimisi, Busia and Teso executive secretaries Patrick Mulamba and Geoffrey Ekasiba, and Teso branch chairman of the union Alex Omoit.

As reported by Education News this week a record 189,000 teachers applied for approximately 25,000 slots up for grabs as the Commission seeks to promote teachers to higher grades.

The Commission has been conducting teachers’ promotional interviews across the counties for primary and post primary school teachers.
