Wandayi warns 2023 KCSE results may mirror recent KCPE challenges

National Assembly Minority Leader and Ugunja constituency MP James Opiyo Wandayi has expressed concern that the upcoming 2023 KCSE results may face similar issues as the recently bungled KCPE results.

Wandayi urged the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) to promptly address the issues that led to the mismanagement of the KCPE examinations to prevent a repeat scenario in the impending KCSE results.

He raised questions about the credibility of the company awarded the contract for printing examination papers and the tendering process.

Wandayi emphasized the need for accountability and transparency to safeguard the future of education in the country.

The MP accused the Ministry of Education and KNEC of harboring cartels that threaten the welfare of the nation’s children.

He criticized the forensic audit conducted by the Ministry of ICT on the KCPE results, dismissing it as a futile exercise influenced by the alleged cartels.

Addressing protests related to Junior Secondary School teachers’ payment and employment, Wandayi challenges the government to acknowledge the failure of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and consider revisiting the education system’s foundation.

He suggested that Junior Secondary schools should be integrated into secondary schools, as initially planned, citing the inadequate capacity of primary schools to host them.
