A virtual clinic that will serve learners, teachers and non- teaching staff has been set up at Kerugoya municipality in Kirinyaga County.
The first ever virtual clinic is aimed at giving timely specialized treatment in schools.
It is a product of a partnership between Kerugoya municipality and HealthX Africa, which has been received well by parents as kids will receive first aid in the institutions.
Medical Director Dr Martin Makau said the initiative will ease long queues in hospitals.
“We have partnered with Kerugoya municipality schools so as to give the learners, teaching staff and non-teaching staff a clinic that will respond to their issues very fast,” said Makau.
Kirinyaga County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for health George Karoki urged parents to embrace the initiative as it will be of much help in times of emergencies.
Karoki also emphasized on parents talking to their children as the county tries to reduce the triple threat of early pregnancies, HIV and gender-based violence.
