Varsity students asked to embrace Kenya’s cultural diversity

University students have been asked to embrace the country’s cultural diversity to enable them promote peace in their institutions and beyond.

Homa Bay County Senator Moses Kajwang’ said that most of the world conflicts are as a result of wrong perception of cultural diversity among communities and saw the need to bridge the gap for the purpose of peace, stability and prosperity.

“We have to embrace cultural diversity among communities for a meaningful coexistence and youth are the best midwives to drive this home because of their robust thinking and actions that are enhanced by modem technology,” he said.

The Senator was speaking to students and the staff of Tom Mboya University during their annual 2024 cultural festival.

Saying that the world has become a global village because of improved communication technology, the legislator asked students to value individual backgrounds by embracing tolerance without compromising or belittling society’s values.

Tom Mboya University Vice Chancellor Prof Charles Ochola thanked the staff and students for their active participation to make the event successful, promising the best to come from the university in future.
