Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa, who is also the Meru University of Science and Technology Chancellor, has urged Kenyans to venture into the overseas job market.
“I have heard it said by many Kenyans that there are no jobs after graduation. However, I would like to demystify this by explaining that there is a big job market for employment as well as for self-employment, which is not limited to the Kenyan boarders,” said Ndegwa.
Speaking at the university during a graduation ceremony, Ndegwa said the fourth industrial revolution has turned the world into a global village, urging Kenyans to take advantage of new internet innovations such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) in order to succeed in future.

University Vice Chancellor Romanus Odhiambo said they have created global opportunities for their students, sending students abroad in the past 3 years in life changing exchange programmes to the Netherlands, Italy, and Canada, among many other countries.
“These experiences have not only enriched their education but also opened their hearts and minds to new cultures, ideas and possibilities. Our focus on internationalization is a reflection of our promise to offer world class education – one that prepares our students to succeed anywhere in the world. We want them to leave here as global citizens ready to make a difference, no matter where life takes them,” said Prof. Romanus.
