The Commission for University Education (CUE) has begun a physical inspection at Kiabonyoru Mixed High School where the proposed Nyamira State University will be situated.
Kisii University VC Prof. Nathan Ogechi and North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko led a delegation from the Commission led by CEO Prof. Mike Kuria to the high school for a physical inspection and verification of a report by the taskforce that was mandated to recommend the ideal location.
Prof. Kuria disclosed that the proposed university college will be started as a constituent college of Kisii University.
He revealed that after the visit, the Commission will write a report on its findings and recommendations to the Ministry of Education before formal procedures follow.
“As you know there are procedures that are laid down for an institution like this to start. We are now up and running to ensure all the procedures are undertaken before we declare the university as open and functional,” Kuria said.

MP Nyamoko urged the Commission to hasten the process of approval to ensure the project begins as soon as possible, considering President Ruto already allocated Ksh500 million to the project.
Prof. Ogechi on his part urged the locals to be ready for the investment opportunities the university will present to them after it has been instituted.
“The university that will be started here will be international. Residents have the greatest opportunity to capitalize on this institution to create wealth,” he said.
