The County Government of Uasin Gishu and other education stakeholders have lauded the Technical Vocational Education and Training institutions (TVETs) in the country for their enormous contributions to national development through employment and creation of solution to challenges facing essential sectors of the economy.
Speaking during the handing over of the TVET Torch to the administration of Uasin Gishu as part of 100 years celebrations on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, area Deputy Governor John Barorot revealed the sector has been pivotal in the development of the country since the pre –colonial era.

“We recognise TVET sector as it serves in provision of crucial skills for development in the country. Through specialised training programmes, it has equipped youth with practical expertise and knowledge needed to excel in their chosen fields,” he said.
At the same time, TVET North Rift Director Michael Rugut said the ministry is keen on enhancing access to skills, matching the industry requirements by equipping of 230 institutions across the country with modern equipment.
“The country cannot develop without TVETs. The country’s development progress is based on how we develop these institutions,” he said.
