TVET Department rolling-out training skills programme on Blue Economy

The State Department for TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) is implementing the Kenya Blue Economy Skills Training (KBEST) program.

In partnership with Global Affairs Canada, the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs, the KBEST initiative focuses on providing targeted Assessment to women, youth, and vulnerable populations in key sectors of the blue economy.

During the KBEST Partnership Orientation Workshop in Nairobi, Dr. Esther Muoria, Principal Secretary of the State Department for TVET, was represented by Stanley Maindi, Director of the RPL Delivery Division. He explained that the State Department for TVET has adopted a whole-of-government approach, also known as the “One-Stop-Government” model.

This model emphasizes collaboration across ministries, departments, and agencies (MDACs) to address challenges and streamline the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process. By working together, these institutions create policies, manage programs, and deliver services that align with the objectives of the KBEST program.
