TSC transfers three Principals in Kisii in latest changes

New Tendere High School Principal, Elijah Onsabwa.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has transferred three Principals from Kisii County in the latest transfer exercise.

Principal of Tendere Secondary School Onchoke Ombui has been transferred to Kanyimbo Secondary School. He has been replaced by Elija Onsabwa from St. Alexander Nyamecheo Secondary School in Nyamira County.

Further, David Paradise of Nyatwoni SDA Church in South Mugiramgo Constituency has been moved to St. Alexander Nyamecheo Secondary School.

Kisii County Director of Education (CDE) Philip Chirchir termed the transfers a routine meant to regulate teachers’ performance and pledge of service.

“According to their employer, the teachers are supposed to work anywhere where services are needed,” he said.

The new Tendere Secondary Principal Elijah Onsabwa said that his first mission is to increase the student population from the current 250 to 1,000 in one year.

While speaking to Education News, he expressed confidence in the possibility of achieving his dream by preaching and embracing teamwork among students, teachers, parents and other stakeholders.

“I have already talked with the school management committee which has agreed to revert the school into the mixed school it was initially. So far we have admitted 50 girls into the school,” he said.

The committee Chairperson Samuel Orenge noted that the school started performing dismally when it was converted into a boys’ school.

Onsabwa revealed that the school posted a mean score of 5.7 in the 2023 KCSE examinations up from 5.4 in 2022.
