TSC says it has not received orders to hire State House Girls BoM teachers on permanent terms

There has been no order from President Ruto for TSC to employ BoM teachers at State House Girls on permanent terms.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has said it has not received orders to employ the Board of Management (BoM) teachers at State House Girls on permanent terms.

In a memo signed by one of the legal officers at the commission addressed to Mugeria  Lempaa and Kariuki Advocates, the commission said the government has documented channels of communicating information that impacts public policy and practice.

“At the outset, permit us to indicate that the commission is unaware of any request by H.E. the President to employ the teachers directly engaged by the BOM, State House Girls, Nairobi. In our recollection, the Head of Public Service has not made any such request or directive to the Commission on behalf of the presidency,” the memo reads.

Nonetheless, the commission assured that if such request is made to the commission, it will be considered and processed per the legal and regulatory requirements.

“Indeed, it ought to be appreciated by all that in executing its constitutional and statutory mandate, TSC strictly adheres to the values and principals of Public Service, among the other noble ideas espoused by the Constitution and statute law. Consequently, note that in the absence of a formal request on the subject, the opportunity to respond to you or decline the ‘directive’ has yet to crystalize,” the memo further reads.
