TSC nominee for SRC Commissioner to be vetted on Friday

Nominees for the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) will be vetted on Friday, November 22, 2024, starting at 8:30 AM at Parliament Buildings, among the six being Jane Gatakaa Njage of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

In preparation, the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Labour, chaired by Eric Muchangi, held a pre-vetting briefing on Tuesday to deliberate on the nominees.

The vetting exercise will evaluate the candidates’ qualifications, integrity and capacity to fulfill SRC’s mandate.

Speaking during the pre-vetting briefing,  Muchangi emphasized the importance of understanding the SRC’s role in public service remuneration and ensuring that the nominated individuals are well-equipped to execute its mandate effectively.

“We have done this before, and what is important to us is to understand the mandate of the SRC so that, as we vet the nominees, we ensure we have the best team with the capacity to effectively run the commission,” he stated.

The SRC plays a critical role in setting and reviewing salaries and allowances for public officials, aiming to ensure fairness and fiscal sustainability in public service remuneration.
