A woman, pretending to be a Teachers Service Commission (TSC) official, has been charged for allegedly obtaining money fraudulently from an unemployed teacher.
Peris Mumbi Muriithi was arraigned before a Nairobi Court for obtaining Ksh355,000 from Moses Kyongi Nzuki under false pretense of being in a position to secure him employment at TSC headquarters.
According to the charge sheet, on September 5, 2023 at an undisclosed location, the poser obtained Ksh 355,000 from Kyongi with intent to defraud, pretending to be in a position to secure him employment as a teacher, a fact she knew to be false.
Appearing before Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi, Mumbi denied the charges and was released on Ksh100,00 bond or an alternative of a cash bail of Ksh50,000.
