The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has invited qualified primary school teachers who wish to be deployed to junior secondary schools to apply.
The Commission has activated its online application portal and applicants are requested to send their applications through https://tsconline.tsc.go.ke/tsc-teacher/login?.
The applicant should be serving under Permanent and Pensionable terms in public primary schools.
Also, one must by employed by TSC and must have attained Grade C+ at KCSE and a minimum C+ in each of the two cluster subjects that align with he Competence Based Curriculum.
Below are the steps for applying:
Open TSC online application portal and log in with your TSC number and password.
Go to the “Deployment to JSS” segment, then enter your details and upload the required documents.
Then submit your application.
TSC seeks to employ 6,000 teachers to address teacher shortage of 72,422 in JSS across the country.

According to, TSC CEO Dr Nancy Macharia 76,928 teachers are employed in Junior schools, representing only 51.5 per cent of the total labour force required.
Out of the 76,928, some 9,000 teachers were employed directly on Permanent and Pensionable terms while 8,378 P1 teachers were deployed in the last two years. And 39,550 teachers were initially recruited as intern teachers and later confirmed to permanent and pensionable terms.
According to the CEO, a total of 149,350 teachers are required to handle Grade 7, 8 and 9.
The State has also allocated KSh4.8 billion to hire 20,000 JSS teachers on internship terms, starting this month. And, the intern teachers will be retooled to fully equip them for new roles
Between May 2023 and November 2024, 60,642 teachers across the country have been trained specifically to handle JSS classes.
