The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has issued the criteria that it will use in promoting school heads for the 19,433 positions advertised.
This criterion outlines the method for awarding marks during the interviews for school heads. The matrix determines who succeeds in the interviews in 2024 and details the areas candidates will be assessed on, including academic qualifications, career development, technical knowledge, management skills, performance over the last three years, co-curricular activities, general knowledge, and behavioral attributes.
Academic qualifications and performance are highly weighted, with teachers scoring a mean of 11 or above in their KCSE results earning a maximum of 20 marks. The total possible marks awarded is 100. Emphasis is placed on validating school performance data and using the highest score between the mean and improvement index.
