TSC advertises over 5,000 vacancies for school head positions

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced a massive teacher recruitment for senior roles both in primary and secondary schools.

In an advertisement posted on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, the Commission announced that 755 vacancies are for the post-primary school principals position, an equivalent number for secondary schools, while 816 are for their deputies.

The Commission will also hire 1,208 teachers for the primary school heads and 2,911 deputies.

Applicants for the Principal (post-primary) position will be required to have served as Deputy Principal or as a Senior Master for a minimum period of six months.

“For appointment to this grade, a teacher must have served as Deputy Principal II/Senior Master I, T-Scale 12, for a minimum period of six (6) months and have obtained a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process. Have demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and provide professional support to other teachers; and meet any other requirement deemed necessary by the commission,” TSC stated.

For the deputy principal position, the candidate should have served as Senior Master in their schools for a minimum period of three years.

“For appointment to this grade, a teacher must have served as Senior Master III T-Scale 10 for a minimum period of three years, have obtained a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process, and demonstrate the ability to supervise, mentor, and provide professional support to other teachers and meet any other requirement deemed necessary by the Commission,” it added.

For the appointment of the head teacher position, the candidate must have served as Deputy Head Teacher II TSC Scale 9 for a minimum period of three years; have satisfactory ratings in the performance appraisal process, and have demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and provide professional support to other teachers.

For the primary school deputy position, a teacher will be required to have served as Senior Teacher I T-Scale 8 for a minimum period of three years.

Interested candidates, who meet the required qualifications, have been advised to submit their applications online through the TSC portal www.teachersonline.go.ke by Monday, November 18, at midnight.
