A Form Two student from Kithimani HGM Secondary School in Yatta Sub-county, Machakos, has tragically lost his life after being run over by a delivery truck yesterday evening.
Grief and shock have engulfed the school, with students and teachers struggling to come to terms with this sudden loss.
According to a police report seen by Education News, the accident took place when a truck, which was delivering bread to the school, attempted to reverse. The driver, unaware of the student’s presence, accidentally ran him over.

Witnesses said that the young man had been seated behind the vehicle, possibly resting or unaware of the impending danger.
Upon realizing what had happened, teachers and fellow students rushed to the scene in distress. The injured student was immediately taken to a nearby private hospital for urgent medical attention.
Unfortunately, doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. His body has since been moved to Mbaku Funeral Home while authorities launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
School Principal Josphat Kiema confirming the incident expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of the student, describing it as a heartbreaking moment for the entire school community.
