A third-year student from Tharaka University who passed on in a road accident in Kirinyaga County has been laid to rest.
Caroline Kamunya, was laid to rest in Nyeri County on Sunday in a moving farewell.
The 20 year old, and her colleague Stephen Waigwa, 21, died last Friday when their vehicle was hit by a Probox on the busy Sagana-Makutano highway near the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church in Riandira.
The pair had just celebrated a local media station, Radio Thome’s fourth anniversary in Sagana before heading to a church service.
Fellow students remembered Caroline as a trailblazer who earned numerous awards for her acting at festivals, proudly representing Tharaka University. The university administration described her as a well-behaved individual whose promising talent was cut short by the accident.
Mwangi wa Wangu, Radio Thome Director where Caroline interned, praised her for her friendly nature and the positive impact she had on the station.
He fondly recalled how he nicknamed her ‘Kamami,’ a name she embraced during her three months with the station. Caroline was known for making visitors feel welcome, often offering them tea before or after shows.
“We have lost a dedicated lady whose career was promising, Carol will be remembered for her warm welcome, she always made visitors feel warm and welcomed anytime they had a show; she made a cup of tea, we will miss you Kamami,” Mwangi said.
