A Form One student of Tengecha Girls High School in Kericho has drowned in a pool back in her Kimwogit village, Chief Principal Hellen Mabese Luhangala has said.
In a short announcement apparently to the school community, the Chief Principal said the girl was washing clothes and might have accidentally slipped into the pool and drowned.
She revealed that Cynthia Chepwogen Kimetto was the daughter of Richard Kimetto and Stella Kimetto of Cheborge Division in Bureti Sub-county.
Mourning her as a disciplined student whose behaviour was beyond reproach, she prayed for the family and the school community as they come to terms with the untimely death of the amiable student.
It is with great sorrow that the school will be without her as schools reopen next week for second term.
Meanwhile, a head teacher in Homa Bay also drowned in a well a few days ago.
