Parents are firmly attached to their children because they are seen as those who perpetuate the family tree, but it is saddening when children die at their prime age and leave families devastated.
Such was the case at Kiabugesi Village in Bomachoge Borabu Constituency when the former delegate to Gusii Mwalimu Sacco, Sarah Nyaenya, lost her son.
According to Nyaenya, her son Victor Nyaenya died at Agha Khan Hospital Kisumu yesterday after a short illness.
“He was my friend and the only hope of the family. We tried everything possible to keep him alive, but God’s plan is final,” she said.
The bereaved mother did not reveal the cause of her son’s sudden demise at the time of publishing this story.
Among those who sent their early condolences to the family include Bokimonge Ward MCA Amos Onderi, who said that he had lost a childhood friend and primary school classmate and asked God to console the family.

Former Kisii County Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Executive Secretary Ben Nyaundi said that the demise of the late Victor was a big blow to the family because he was the family’s only child.
He called the teaching fraternity to stand with their colleague Sarah, whom she said was very cooperative in the community’s social and economic matters.
Nyaenya was a primary school head teacher before she joined Kisii Mwalimu Sacco as a delegate, a post she served diligently for a long time.
In 2022, she ran for the Kisii County Woman Representative seat but lost to the current holder, Doris Aburi.
In 2024, Kisii County Government appointed Nyaenya Commissioner of advisory matters cooperatives, agriculture, livestock, fisheries, veterinary, and extension services.
Kisii County Governor Simba Arati mourned the late Victor, a vivacious youth whose demise shocked many. He wished the family peace from God at this time of sadness.
