Teachers condole education director after death of mother

Teachers have been asked to remain resilient after the passing on of their loved ones by forming and joining social and economic groups to enable them bear one another’s burdens, in times of need.

Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) Kisii branch Chief Principal Joyce Orioki told teachers to be supportive to their old parents apart from their couples to ensure they live a decent life as they age.

The Principal was addressing her colleagues from Kericho and Kisii counties when they consoled Kisii County Director of Education Philip Chirchir at Chepsili location in Kericho County following the demise of his mother.

Orioki termed Chirchir as a leader who lead through actions and this has attracted admiration and created good rapport with teachers from across the region.

“Teachers perceive you as a father and that is why we are here in big numbers to mourn with your family and demonstrates to them that you are a man of people,” she said.

The chairman asked principals to live exemplary lives to their deputies by training them through delegation of duties instead of intimidating them in order to run schools smoothly.

The director who spoke on behalf of his family praised her departed mother, Anne Sang, 92, as a great wise mother who loved of education.

“It is through her and my father’s strict upbringing that all of my siblings went through education successfully and all are working,” he said.

He said the departed mother who lived happily with all people until her peaceful death in hospital after a short illness.

“We decided as a family to celebrate her life rather than mourning her,” said Chirchir.

The late Anne will be laid to this Friday at Chepsil location Kericho County.
