Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Ogamba has assured that consultations are at an advanced stage to meet the demands of lecturers who are currently on strike over the 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

“I want to assure university staff and dons that my ministry means well regarding their demands and welfare and very soon the matter will addressed once and for all,” he stated.

Addressing journalists in Nyamira town after witnessing the dispatch of KCSE examination papers in Nyamira South sub-county today, Ogamba asked lecturers to call off the strike to put their students out of misery.

The CS also expressed concern over claims by Moi University medical students that they have spent more time in university than the stipulated time because of strikes.

Ogamba also dismissed rumors that this year’s KCSE examinations had leaked saying that they ensured there was no early exposure.

“Those who were implicated in the early exposure of the examination papers have been arrested and arraigned in court,” he added.
