Teachers have been asked to treat retooling programmes with seriousness and further incorporate lessons acquired while practicing in class.
Speaking during the opening of a four-day retooling exercise for Junior School teachers in West Pokot sub-county, TSC Deputy County Director Paul Kamas asked the teachers to be aware of the weight the training carries and the responsibility that comes with it.
Kamas told the over 500 trainees at Nasokol Girls Secondary School that they have been entrusted with the mandate of ensuring that learning under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) is a success.
The SCD asked teachers to maintain the highest standards of discipline, professionalism and etiquette during the interactive forum.
He also asked them to give effective feedback on challenges they face, promising to make immediate follow-up after the workshop.
Sub County Director Robert Aleutum, who is in charge of the retooling exercise, asked teachers to prepare fully before entering class, adding that professional records and understanding of the subject matter, especially for subjects they did not take in university, was imperative.
“Our priority at the moment is to equip learners with additional scientific knowledge and assured them of full support in all the learning areas,” he said.
