President William Ruto has assured higher education students that their funds will be disbursed to their accounts by tomorrow.
Speaking in Dagoretti South, Ruto acknowledged ongoing challenges at the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and promised they would be resolved.
“There have been some issues with HELB. Just yesterday, I spoke with the relevant Cabinet Secretary,” he stated, vowing to take action against specific individuals.
Ruto revealed that he had already instructed the Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, to address the issues swiftly.
In a light-hearted moment, he told students to call him directly if the funds were not credited to their accounts by Friday.

“If the money isn’t in your accounts by Friday, call me. Some people will have to answer for that,” he remarked.
“Are you looking for my number?” he joked, drawing laughter from the crowd.
Earlier this month, HELB announced that first and second-year university students would receive funds under the old model while awaiting the outcome of an appeal challenging the High Court’s suspension of the new funding framework.
The delay has sparked student protests over the late disbursement.
“We’re protesting the delays because we can’t afford necessities. We’re marching to Anniversary Towers,” said Rocha Madzao, a student leader at the University of Nairobi.
Officials attributed the delay to a High Court ruling on December 20, which declared the new university funding model illegal and unconstitutional.
