Students have been encouraged to make the most of their two-month-long third-term holiday, focusing on their studies to shape a brighter future.
Speaking during a sermon at the Seed of Faith Fellowship Church in Ruambwa, Budalangi constituency, Busia County, Bishop William Musumba emphasized the vital role of parents in providing guidance and counseling to their children during this extended break.
Additionally, he expressed deep concern about the increasing instances of early pregnancies and the widespread involvement of young people in drug and substance abuse.
“This dire situation has resulted in many students dropping out of school,” Musumba noted.
The cleric also issued a stern warning against parents allowing their children, particularly boys, to participate in sand harvesting along the River Nzoia with the intention of earning money for Christmas celebrations.
He highlighted the grave risk of accidental drowning and loss of life associated with this practice.
In addition, Musumba also cautioned against sending children to stay with relatives during the lengthy third-term holiday noting that these relatives might not be able to provide the necessary guidance and discipline, potentially leading to adverse consequences.
He stressed that education is the key to a better future, citing examples of prominent leaders in Kenya and globally who have achieved success through education.
