University Academic Staff Union (UASU) has just announced a new strike after negotiations with the government failed. It’s only, approximately one month after the government had come to a breakthrough negotiation with lectures, to settle.
The UASU action to go on strike will affect students learning in public universities negatively. In fact, the students are in a position of counting this semester as a waste of time.
Most of the units are not completed. At the same time, the December holiday is waiting. What a confusion!
I’ve listened to many Students from Rongo University asking more questions than answers, solutions and opinions all over. How will they balance the units completion battle with the December holiday around the corner?

Questions arise: Should online lessons take over? Should committed lecturers share notes with students for personal studies? Should students learn by themselves by exploring search engines or visiting libraries? Should the syllabus bounce, assumed or skipped? Should students not go on holiday if lectures are resumed? Should they repeat the whole semester? Very worrying!
I think the government should show some mercy to students. Let the government fix the UASU problem as soon as possible for the sake of assisting Kenyan students.
If the strike persists, the students should explore search engines. Let students show some concern about their education by setting out time to do personal research to help them catch up.
It’s almost the December holiday, let the government act quickly to ensure that the problem is fixed and let the students get a proper education without interruption.
