A 19-year-old Form Two student from RCEA Tembelio Secondary School in Moiben Sub-County was brutally murdered last night at Gem Farm, allegedly by a 25-year-old bodaboda rider.
The perpetrator, who eventually surrendered to the authorities, is accused of defiling the minor and strangling her.
Confirming the occurrence, Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi said that investigations had begun to determine the circumstances surrounding the murder.
“We have arrested the culprit, and he is currently in custody as we examine the events leading up to this heinous conduct. Mwanthi said that the motive for the murder had yet to be discovered.

Preliminary findings show that the culprit lured the student before committing the horrible crime.
Residents at Gem Farm and the surrounding Moiben neighborhood have voiced shock and outrage over the incident, calling for prompt justice.
Local officials and human rights advocates have also criticized the conduct, demanding authorities to punish those who commit such crimes with the full weight of the law.
The deceased’s body has been moved to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary for a post-mortem examination, which is expected to throw more light on the circumstances of her death.
Mwanthi has advised parents, especially those with children in day schools, to be attentive and aware of their children’s locations at all times.
“It is crucial for parents to keep track of their children’s movements, especially after school hours, to prevent such unfortunate incidents,” he added.
