According to a police officer at Gachuba Police Station, the animals were reported stolen last week, and they started investigation.
“Yesterday, we found the boy taking the animals to the market and we arrested him to help us with investigation,” said the police officer.
The suspect led the police to their home where they picked other two people; a woman and a man who were reportedly behind the cattle theft syndicate.
The three suspects were taken to Keroka Police Station to record statements and help the police with investigation.
Keroka police station boss Robert Ndambiri confirmed arrest of the three suspects.
“The three suspects including a Form Three student are in our custody helping with investigation,” he said.
When this reporter tried to get audience from the 16- years-old suspected student, he was barred by the police who threatened to confiscate his camera.
Ndambiri appealed to the residents of Masaba North and Manga sub counties to work hand in hand with the police to reveal cattle thieves in their midst.
“These petty thefts will fuel animosity caused by a few disgruntled people who should be handed to the police for correction,” he said.
He appealed to parents to restrain their teenage children from indulging in crime at the expense of their education.
The police officer said that the suspects will be arraigned in court immediately after the officer complete the investigation.
