Sotik Member of Parliament Francis Sigey wants Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to stop the transfers of teachers with immediate effect, threatening to table a motion in the National Assembly on the same.

He slammed the Commission saying the continued transfer of teachers not only has it slowed development but also demoralised the teachers and learners as well.

Speaking in the area, he questioned why the transfers, which he termed as illegal, were going on yet the delocalisation policy had been suspended.

He cited an example of Moi Minariet Secondary School, where the Principal was transferred on short notice, a situation he described as unacceptable.

“Some of the teachers have done a good job in developing their schools and when they are moved, the development stops. This is unacceptable and must stop,” he noted.

According to him, proper consultations, bringing together all education stakeholders should be carried out before any such decisions are made.

“Consultations should be carried out before transfers are implemented. I am going to table a motion demanding answers from the Commission if these transfers are not stopped,” added Sigey.

To ensure smooth continuation of learning activities in public schools, Sigey appealed for the hiring of more teachers, noting that understaffing remains a major challenge in the schools.
