STEM teachers to meet in Nairobi for national workshop in February

Skidnet Africa has organized a one-day workshop for Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics teachers. The workshop is scheduled for Saturday February 1, 2025 at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) conference halls, Nairobi.

The workshop aims enhance the skills and knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) teachers as they start to prepare 2025 KCSE candidates.

They participants will learn about new teaching methodologies, instructional tools, curriculum developments and resources related to STEM education.

The registration fee is Ksh3,000 per teacher which covers facilitation, stationery, lunch and a certificate of participation.

In a notice to institutions Edwins Saka Operations Director at Skidnet Africa indicated that the workshop aims to equip teachers with the skills and knowledge required to effectively prepare, implement and deliver the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in their respective subjects.

“The recently concluded 2024 KCSE results highlighted key trends and areas of improvement in STEM subjects. While there was commendable performance in specific schools, the overall results revealed gaps in content delivery, practical applications, and critical thinking skills among learners,” the invitation reads.

Saka added that the workshop will provide an opportunity for teachers to reflect on outcomes and strategise on how to address the challenges and enhance performance in the coming years.
