The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has taken over the construction of Chebara schools from the National Youth Service, which had been tasked with completion of six institutions.
The institutions, whose construction began in 2011 following the displacement to pave way for the construction of Chebara Dam, stalled in what was termed as misappropriation of funds.
Speaking during the handing over event, Elgeyo Marakwet Governor wisely Rotich expressed optimism that the projects will be completed this time round to improve learning standards and other social amenities in the area.
Rotich called on the heads of all the institutions involved to be proactive and ensure they offer the necessary supervision of the projects, saying it was sad that they have remained incomplete due to mismanagement.
“We could not be talking of delay in completion of the projects if the previous heads had done their duty,” he said.
