The Jomo Kenyatta Foundation (JKF) recently hosted a mentorship session for sponsored students in Baringo under their Elimu Sponsorship Program.
One hundred and eighty seven students, drawn from various schools in the county, received pep talks from the clergy, education stakeholders and administrators from the foundation.
The two-day programme, held at Kabarnet High School, offered an opportunity for learners to interact with their peers from different communities and sub-counties.
JKF team leader John Kibet said the mentorship sessions are ongoing countrywide and seek to encourage the students to fully concentrate on their performance.
He said the sponsorship programme has played an integral role in enhancing access to education for learners from needy backgrounds.
While underscoring achievements of the education kitty, Kibet lauded the students for taking education seriously and urged them to maintain discipline and hard work to ensure they join higher institutions of learning.
“I challenge you to be wary of negative values as you continue with your long holiday because it may derail your dreams. The objective of being in school is to transform the community, and is only achievable through hard work,” he said.
