A Grade 3 pupil from St Patrick Mosocho Primary School in Kitutu Chache South Constituency tragically lost her life in a road accident this afternoon.
Preliminary information from eyewitnesses indicates that the victim was crossing the Nyakoe-Kisumu Highway when she was struck by a speeding vehicle, resulting in her death at the scene.
Another student was seriously injured and was rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment. The body of the deceased has been taken to the hospital mortuary for preservation, pending a postmortem examination and further police investigation.

Dr Mariita Oimoke, CEO of Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, confirmed the death of the young girl and expressed hope for the recovery of the second injured pupil.
“Our facility received the body for preservation as the staff worked to save the second pupil, who narrowly escaped death,” he stated.
Kisii County Police Commander Charles Keses announced that investigations have begun to determine the cause of the accident and the circumstances surrounding the pupil’s death. He urged motorists to adhere to road safety guidelines to help prevent future accidents on our highways.
