Sigalagala Polytechnic officals welcome Education CS Julius Ogamba to the institution.

Cabinet Secretary for Education Julius Ogamba has congratulated 2,781 graduates at Sigalagala National Polytechnic for working hard towards completion of their tertiary education.

Speaking during the institution’s 5th graduation ceremony, CS Ogamba told the graduands that they had completed an important chapter in their lives ushering a new chapter of exciting opportunities.

“As the CS for Education I’m filled with optimism and hope as I witness the transformation taking place in our educational institutions including Sigalagala,” he said.

He said that the TVET skills the graduates had received were the foundation upon which they would build the future of the nation.

The government, he said, is committed to empowering the youth who are equipped with skills and knowledge to shape the future of the country and contribute to its economic growth.

“We are determined to provide TVET education and training that embraces a forward-thinking approach. This will prepare our trainees for challenges of the world of work by ensuring they are both theoretically and practically prepared,” said the CS.

Ogamba revealed that the launch of the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy earlier this year, is a testament of the government’s quest to ensure that all Kenyans are valuable in the job market.

“The government is determined to improve the quality of training in TVET institutions. This year alone the ministry has recruited over 3,000 TVET tutors,” he disclosed.

He added that they have made significant investments in the digitalization of education through the Jitume programme, citing Sigalagala as one of the TVET institutions that have been equipped with computers and internet access.

“Technical education is an engine that will drive our economy forward, and you are the engineers, plumbers, automotive technicians and hospitality experts who will lead this transformation,” he affirmed.
