Sex pests and paedophiles preying on school children will be arrested and prosecuted, Kyanzavi Assistant County Commissioner Caroline Kathambi has warned.
Speaking during a meeting with residents at Donyo Sabuk in Matungulu sub-county, she said that people with such behavior are destroying the future of innocent girls and demeaning society.
Kathambi asked residents to shun settling such cases in kangaroo courts and that they should not shy away from exposing the perpetrators.
She further asked them to ensure they report the cases to the police so the culprits are prosecuted.
“There are many defilement cases that go unreported and I have ordered Chiefs and their Assistants to arrest rapists and parents of rape victims who fail to report such cases,” she said.
Her warning comes against a backdrop of rising cases of rape, defilement and teenage pregnancies across the country, especially during the holidays.
