30 students of St Aloys Mayenya Secondary School in Kisumu East have been injured after strong winds destroyed the roofs.
Fourteen others were admitted in hospital after sustaining injuries when a strong wind swept through the school accompanied by heavy rains last evening.
Other students also got injured but were treated and discharged from St Elizabeth Hospital in Chiga.
The school principal Judith Atieno said the thunderstorm destroyed two classrooms and the staff room on Wednesday evening during a heavy downpour.
She stated that the students were out of danger, adding that the incident left others in shock but all is under control.

Atieno said that the heavy rains left behind a trail of destruction with the affected classes having all roofs blown off as a result.
The head teacher said most of the affected infrastructure cannot be used at the moment.
Kisumu County Director of Education Rosemary Birenge confirmed the incident.
The school is now appealing for support from well-wishers, asking the county and even the national government to come to their rescue in order to resume normal learning activities.
