Several students from Salvation Army Kolanya Boys High School in Teso North Busia County are receiving treatment in various hospitals after their school bus was involved in a road accident Friday night.
The students were returning to school from drama festivals in Budalang’i, Busia County when their bus lost control and hit an electricity pole five kilometres from their school on the Malaba-Malakisi road.
According to Teso North Sub-county police commander Charles Chepkonga, the injured were taken to various hospitals, including Kocholia in Teso North and Bungoma.

“Most of them were treated and discharged, while a few still receive treatment. Three teachers on the bus got minor injuries.”

Chepkonga added that they had launched investigations to ascertain the real cause of the accident.
The school principal, Jacktone Indimuli, also confirmed Sunday morning that he had travelled to Bungoma and joined injured students: “At present, my deputy and I are with injured students having breakfast in Bungoma town. After breakfast, they will be allowed to contact their families.”
“We sincerely appreciate all the stakeholders for their swift response and concern during this time. Above all, we thank God for the protection in every situation,” said Indimuli.
