Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna on Saturday organized a party for Nairobi teachers as they marked this year’s World Teachers’ Day.
The luncheon was attended by over 500 teachers drawn from all 17 sub-counties in the county.
Speaking during the event, Sifuna promised to treat the teachers every year, underscoring the critical contribution of teachers to society.
“Your commitment to nurturing and empowering students is truly inspiring. Thank you for shaping the future and making a lasting impact in our communities. Your hard work does not go unnoticed,” he said.
World Teachers’ Day is an international day held annually on 5 October to celebrate teachers.
Also present were Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) and Teachers Service Commission (TSC) officials.
“This is the first time we are being honoured as teachers,” Peter Wafula, a teacher at Dagoretti High School said. “This honor acknowledges the relentless efforts of teachers who invest their time and energy in shaping young minds to become leaders of tomorrow.”
Led by Wafula, the teachers added that they were grateful to leaders present who saw it wise to invite them during such an important day for teachers.
