The 13th edition of Mara Day celebrations has officially begun at Sekenani Girls in Siana ward, Narok West Sub-County.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Narok County Deputy Governor Tamalinye Koech.
Koech said that the four-day event which will end on Sunday, September 15 2024, will include activities such as tree planting and clean-up exercises.
The county CECM for Environment, Johana Rotich lauded the students for the clean-up exercise held earlier and extended his gratitude to stakeholders and partners who contributed to the success of the event.

Rotich noted that preparations for the main event which will be held on Sunday are already underway.
Partners present included Sarova Mara Camp, Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC), Ewaso Ngiro South Development Authority (ENSDA), National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), Ministry of Interior and Coordination, Maasai Mara Wildlife Conservancies Association (MMWCA) and Kenya Forest Service (KFS).
