A secondary school girl is fighting for her life after she was attacked by unknown people on Thursday morning when she was heading to the school.

According to area Chief Jared Makori, the girl was attacked by two men who wanted to rape her, but she escaped narrowly.

The assailants reportedly seized her from the footpath and dragged her into the bush where they wanted to commit the heinous act on her.

But she fought her way to freedom as the suspected rapists hit her on the head with a crude weapon and left her for death.

Good samaritans later picked her and took her to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital where she is undergoing treatment.

When Education News visited the hospital, the girl revealed that she is a student at Bonyaoro Secondary School in Bonchari Constituency.

“They wanted to do bad things thus when I ran away, they hit me on the head and from there I don’t know what happened until I found myself here,” she said.

Since then, parents from Kisii County have asked area education office to give the appropriate time students should report to school rather than dawn when they face danger from various attacks.
