It is a sigh of relief for eleven students from Nyamninia Secondary School in Gem, Yala sub-county, whose 2024 KCSE results were cancelled due to alleged exam malpractice as they get an opportunity to re-sit their examinations this July.
The school’s new Principal, Mr. Thomas Obura, confirmed this positive news, which comes as part of a new initiative by the Kenyan National Examination Council.
Last year, Nyamninia Secondary enrolled 181 candidates for the KCSE exam, but results for only 170 students were released after the unfortunate disqualification of eleven students.
Mr. Obura assured the community that the school has already implemented plans to support these students, enabling them to retake their exams under the new arrangement.

Despite the setback, Nyamninia Secondary achieved a commendable mean grade of 6.17, alongside securing 66 direct entries to the university.
The Principal expressed gratitude to parents and the school community for their patience during the results release period.
He is committed to enhancing the school’s standards to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Parents’ Association Chairman, Mr. Joab Ochieng’ Okinda, commended the teachers and students for their perseverance and academic excellence amid challenges.
He praised the results as a testament to the school’s potential, urging families to encourage their children to maintain their hard work and dedication.
