The Head of Public Service, Felix Koskey, has urged schools’ management to assure safety of students and adhere to Ministry guidelines regarding infrastructure.

Speaking at his alma mater, Nkubu High School, during the alumni day Koskey said it was very unfortunate that Hillside Endarasha pupils lost their lives to a fire.

“As national government, we call upon all schools’ board of management whether public or private to ensure safety in all the schools. It’s so sad for a parent to take a child to a school and then they receive news that the child is no more. It pains a lot, and as a government, we shall not allow this,” he said.

Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Environment Gitonga Mugambi and his colleague in the Ministry of Cooperatives Kiburi Kilemi urged students to maintain discipline.

“It’s so unfortunate that majority of the incidents of fires in our schools happen during third term. I don’t know whether it’s because of fears of the national examinations,” Gitonga pondered.

They said that when students are disciplined, their academic performance goes up.

“Without discipline you cannot achieve anything. Discipline is the key, and I urged you boys to listen to your teacher and parents. Be disciplined and the future will be bright for you,” Kilemi advised.

They added that they will continue supporting Nkubu High School in ensuring that the school has required infrastructure to enable smooth learning.
