Schools must create a supportive exam environment for pregnant candidates

The writer is a student at Rongo University.

Pregnant students face a substantial challenges. It is essential to implement measures that address their physical and psychological wellbeing.

Firstly, Emergency Preparedness.  Schools should ensure emergency measures for any health complications such as  ambulance and nearby hospitals to ensure such students are cared for, hence reducing the rate of delivering in exam settings.

Secondly, Specialized Seating Arrangements. Provision of comfortable seating chairs like egornic chairs with back support and room to stretch hence ensuring their comfortability.

In addition, Peer Support and Counseling Services. Peer groups should be encouraged where students can empower one another and treat them equally. Counseling support to be offered to help students manage stress related to exams or well being.

Furthermore, Transportation Support. Provision of safe reliable transportation options such as escort services is essential for day scholars to ensure they arrive at school and back home safe.

Nevertheless, Conducive Physical Environment. Examination rooms should maintain high standards of cleanliness and adequate ventilation to create a comfortable and free setting that is conducive for their health.

Lastly, Nutritional Support. It is vital to provide balance diet for pregnant candidates which enhances focus, cognitive function and wellbeing, allowing them to engage with their studies.

In conclusion, implementing these measures comprehensively can create a safe and supportive environment for everyone around school or examination environment.
